Introducing MR. FREUND
Caleb Freund, M.S., is an advanced doctoral practicum fellow who uses empathy and authenticity to create a supportive space for clients to pursue meaningful change. Mr. Freund’s therapeutic approach centers on the idea that a rich and meaningful life is one in which we pursue what matters most to us rather than trying to avoid discomfort. Using warmth, insight, and humility, he empowers clients to understand and do what matters most to them, in moments of both comfort and discomfort.
Educational and Career Background
Mr. Freund completed both a B.A. in Music and a B.A. in Psychology as a member of the Liberal Arts Honors program at The University of Texas at Austin. He completed his M.S. in counseling psychology at the University of North Texas, where he is currently working to complete his PhD in counseling psychology. Before Great Life, Mr. Freund has worked in a variety of settings including a community mental health clinic, a university counseling center, a Veteran Affairs outpatient clinic, and a group practice that specializes in comprehensive neuropsychological assessments. Within these settings, he has provided telehealth and in-person individual therapy to teenagers and adults. Mr. Freund has worked with clients from diverse national, economic, educational, religious, and racial/ethnic backgrounds. He has also led and co-lead multiple therapy groups, including psychoeducational groups, mindfulness groups, and process-oriented groups. Mr. Freund is passionate about neurodiversity-affirming assessment and he has experience conducting comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments to address concerns related to personality, academics, differential diagnosis, and neurocognitive ability/difficulties with clients ranging in age from five to eighty years old.
Mr. Freund’s research focuses on the relationship between religion and openness to people from different backgrounds. His master’s thesis specifically explored religious and spiritual identity, cultural humility, and differentiation of self. He is currently working on completing his dissertation, further exploring the concept of relational spirituality and the intersection of differentiation of self and religious and spiritual identity. Mr. Freund will be providing services on behalf of Great Life Counseling Center under the supervision of Dr. Kevin C. Lambert, Psy.D., MBA.
