Introducing Dr. Ellis

Dr. Heidi Ellis, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral fellow who is passionate about working with children, adolescents, adults, and families as they navigate their mental health journeys. As a culturally minded therapist, Dr. Ellis values and respects all identities and strives to create a safe and inclusive space where every individual feels understood and supported. Dr. Ellis’ therapeutic style is characterized by high levels of warmth and collaboration, prioritizing safety and authenticity to create a unique and powerful client-therapist relationship. Dr. Ellis primarily takes a relational psychodynamic approach in therapy, but continually assesses the needs of each unique individual/family and adapts her interventions and approaches to best fit her clients based on their preferences, personalities, and current psychological research. Dr. Ellis often incorporates evidence-based therapeutic strategies from relational-cultural theory, time-limited psychodynamic theory, acceptance and commitment therapy, and family systems.

Dr. Ellis provides play, individual, couples, and family psychotherapy. She has experience with a variety of presenting concerns including trauma, depression, anxiety, identity development, relational difficulty, and adjustment concerns. She is also passionate about conducting psychological evaluations with children, adolescents, and adults. She has experience with assessments focused on cognitive functioning, academic performance, attention/concentration problems, mood concerns, and diagnostic clarification.
