Sam Reyna, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Great Life Counseling Center (GLCC). Dr. Reyna’s therapeutic approach seeks to build supportive and collaborative relationships with clients so that they can genuinely move toward what they are looking to get out of therapy. He is trained in a variety of modalities and will use the approach that best suits your presenting concerns. While working with Dr. Reyna, you can expect a non-judgmental, caring environment where he will be empathic, humorous, relatable, and down-to- earth.
Educational and Career Background:
Dr. Reyna is a born and raised Texan whose interest in psychology developed while an undergraduate in Waco, TX. In 2009, he received a B.A. in Psychology from Baylor University and subsequently worked as a Research Assistant at a VISN COE. He subsequently attended theCounseling Psychology doctoral program at the University of North Texas where he obtained his M.S. in 2015 and Ph.D. in 2017. He completed his predoctoral internship in Health Service Psychology at Central Washington University’s Student Medical and Counseling Clinic. He has had experience in community mental health, university counseling centers, and crisis intervention.
Dr. Reyna is trained in assessment, acceptance and commitment therapy, brief psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused therapy, vocational counseling, couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. He also has some training in prolonged exposure for PTSDand is currently being trained in cognitive processing therapy. Dr. Reyna will be supervised by Dr. Nikki Stillo as he completes the postdoctoral clinical hours needed to obtain full licensure in the state of Texas (anticipated August 2017).
