Dr. Nelson has experience with <\/strong><strong>many therapy concerns including identity development, depression, anxiety, boundary setting, <\/strong><strong>life transitions, organizational abuse, and faith integration. He primarily incorporates systems <\/strong><strong>and psychodynamic theory into his work.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #d49c35;\"><strong><u>Educational and Career Background<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Erik Nelson is a doctoral graduate in Counseling Psychology (PsyD) from Northwest University with an undergraduate degree in business administration and extensive psychology-focused training across multiple settings. He completed his fifth-year doctoral internship at Texas State University.\u00a0 Dr. Nelson\u2019s doctoral dissertation focused on self-compassion as a protective factor against burnout. His clinical experience includes psychotherapy and psychological assessment with diverse populations, ranging from children to adults, in university counseling centers, outpatient clinics, and a community health center, with an emphasis on issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse.\u00a0 \u00a0In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr. Nelson brings decades of prior professional experience as a sales and marketing professional working in Fortune 200 environments. Throughout his corporate work, he was nationally recognized for his corporate achievements and has held various leadership roles.\u00a0 Dr. Nelson\u2019s combined background reflects a unique blend of expertise and strong interpersonal and leadership skills developed in both clinical and corporate settings. While in pursuit of his license to practice as a psychologist, Dr. Nelson will serve as a postdoctoral fellow for Great Life Counselling Center under the supervision of Kevin C.
