Sam Reyna, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist at Great Life Counseling Center (GLCC). Dr. Reyna’s therapeutic approach seeks to build supportive and collaborative relationships with clients so that they can genuinely move toward what they are looking to get out of therapy. He is trained in a variety of modalities and will use the approach that best suits your presenting concerns. While working with Dr. Reyna, you can expect a non-judgmental, caring environment where he will be empathetic, humorous, relatable, and down-to- earth.
Educational and Career Background:
Dr. Reyna is a born and raised Texan whose interest in psychology developed while an undergraduate in Waco, TX. In 2009, he received a B.A. in Psychology from Baylor University and subsequently worked as a Research Assistant at a VISN 17 CoE. He subsequently attended the Counseling Psychology doctoral program at the University of North Texas where he obtained his M.S. in 2015 and Ph.D. in 2017. He completed his pre-doctoral internship in Health Service Psychology at Central Washington University’s Student Medical and Counseling Clinic in the fall of 2017. He has had experience in community mental health, university counseling centers, and crisis intervention. In August 2018, Dr. Reyna completed his postdoctoral fellowship hours with Great Life Counseling Center under the clinical supervision of Nikki Stillo, Ph.D.
Dr. Reyna is trained in assessment, acceptance and commitment therapy, brief psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused therapy, vocational counseling, couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. He also has some training in prolonged exposure for PTSDand is currently being trained in cognitive processing therapy.
