​​​​​​​​Dr. Brittny Torrence is a Postdoctoral fellow at GLCC. Dr. Torrence meets her clients where they are by providing support, guidance, insight and a sense of hope. She is genuinely passionate and devoted to encouraging others and empowering their growth. Dr. Torrence works to provide a warm and safe environment for healing to take place while restoring balance and wholeness throughout the therapeutic process. Dr. Torrence enjoys working with individuals of all ages with issues related to anxiety, depression, oppositional behavior, coping skills building, direct or vicarious trauma; parenting skills; improving co-parenting skills for divorced or separated parents, parent-child relationship issues, and life adjustment difficulties. Her primary clinical specialty is working with children and families including play therapy, art therapy, school observations, parent skills building training, and groups. In addition to therapy, Dr. Torrence also provides psychometric testing and didactic workshops for schools, churches, and community organizations.  

Educational and Career Background
Dr. Torrence was drawn into the field of psychology at the early age of 14. She has always had a keen interest in child development. In 2009, Dr. Torrence earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. After completing her undergraduate experience, she furthered her interest in children by serving as a lead pre-kindergarten teacher for KinderCare Learning Center in Baton Rouge, LA.

In 2015, Dr. Torrence received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Texas School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University Dallas. She completed her predoctoral internship at the Sullivan Center for Children in Fresno, California. Dr. Torrence has an extensive history of working with children and adolescents from three-years-old and up related to a variety of psychological, academic, and interpersonal concerns.  Dr. Torrence is supervised by Dr. Kevin Lambert as she completes the postdoctoral clinical hours needed to obtain full licensure in the state of Texas (anticipated August 2016).​
